Holding On, Letting Go

I held you in my arms long ago
kissed each pink finger and toe
smoothed the downy, dark curls
traced your tiny features gently
with loving fingertips of wonder
I held you so close to my heart
and fed you the warm milk of life
little stranger, everything to me

through skinned knees, high fevers
broken toys, broken hearts, I held you
and felt the love from my spirit flow
into the depths of yours many times
friends deserted, girlfriends hurt you
times you thought your life was over
I reassured you with words and hugs
that life is good and would go on

holding on, holding you as a sacred part
of my life, of my very soul and being
letting go has been the hardest thing
I've ever had to do, there is no love,
and no compassion for me in your heart
after all these long years of holding you
I can't make you love me if you don't
so with deepest love I am letting go....

No one writes emotion like you. Every word so precisely placed that it communicates deeply what you are feeling when you write it. I am saddened by what I read and wonder if that is why you have been away from us with your wondrous pen.

I hope some goodness will come from this and you will be back writing sexy stuff for us to read once again.
