If you are writing from your perspective it is sad to know that you went through so much that I avoided so easily with my family always cheerful and warm this time of year. I sense from the way you ended this poem that you have finally found peace. That's wonderful.
I enjoyed this poem and the way it was written. Personally, I could skip Christmas altogether, and be perfectly happy not having to deal with the overkill and commercialization.
