What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well.
*Antoine de Saint-Exupery
The Well
the desert was set to be my demise
but there was a well, hidden there
a well of God's grace and your love
an oasis both spiritual and earthy
refreshment, nourishment, acceptance
where I learned to be who I truly am
a place of tranquility and passion
where the desert could be forgotten
hands that had labored and aided
hands that knew no appreciation
now daily kissed by your lips of love
a well in the desert, a well of love
where tears are mingled with
the water of life, never devalued
for God has saved them in his bottle
and you have kissed the eyes of sorrow

I love the imagery here. Excellent juxtaposition of an arid, lifeless desert and it's dweller being brought back to life by the healing, loving waters from a well. Sharp and poignant contrasts all around. Interestingly, the well is mentioned to be hidden in the desert all along which I think drives home the point of finding love in an empty desert; true love being a needle in a haystack kind of vibes. The world is a big place, and finding true love is a treasure not found by all. Also, congratulations on the new book!
La Belle, your poems are always thought provoking and fluid. It's good to see you again. I always know that I will find a special place when I visit your den.
PS
Let us hope that the growing deserts of the world all have wells to save them. All living things need water to grow.

A beautiful insight, Susan. One I relate to. Faith whispers in the winds of suffering. Thankfully, there is a path that will lead to the Living Water. And when we partake of it, it will open our eyes and hearts to the wonders that await. Hope all is well. Regards. rlc

God has made an oasis of healing love and a well full of what you need in a desert which seems void of love. He made everything possible for you!
