Unpacked
we brought our parcels along
when we wanted at last to be free
we slowly, carefully unpacked them
not sure they should be seen
or even alluded to in the present
we gasped when we intently stared
into two lifetimes of suffering
we had never unwrapped them
no one even knew they existed
so we perused them with empathy
turning each secret over and over
until it resonated in our souls
then we packaged the past up
and seldom look at it anymore

This one is very personal and I share some of those same thoughts.
