T'will lift your heart!

Poem Artwork

I garden with a conscience. 

I garden with great care.

I like it to look pretty,

But

Let nature have a share.

I keep some space for native plants.

Please,

Never call them weeds,

And encourage birds to visit  

By not removing seeds.

I welcome caterpillars

And even snails and slugs.

When winter comes leave hollow stems

For hibernating bugs.

I know you must imagine

That it can't look very smart

Quite wrong, it's really thriving.

Come see -

I agree with this wonderful poem that you conjured. Leave it natural! After all is that not how most of our land is, natural? These gardeners who try to clean out my garden just take away what God intended. Forget that nonsense. Thank you for sharing!

Through these verses of yours, I feel a "kindred spirit." I love wildflowers but I would never pick them because I did not plant them. I love the flowers in my garden, I water them and take care of them but I don't pick them either, I want them to live as long as they can/wish. Thank you for sharing, Susa. Love and best wishes,

A beautiful poem about a beautiful way of having a garden. We sometimes forget that nature is the best landscaper and that our efforts to beautify using drastic measures often backfires and gives us ugliness instead.
