The judges made a mistake and the wronged gymnast in question did not take advantage of the remedy. Rules govern questions like this. It's too late now. Sports are, more often than not, at the mercy of judges, human judges who make human mistakes. According to the rules, Hamm won. Nice write.

I tend to think along the lines of Susan. To have such joy and then it taken away because of confused judges? Not sure what the correct answer would be, to what to do about it. The only thing I see, once again the media is making a difficult situation; worst.

good question you have asked here, karla! i think that the judging needs a major overhaul, and it is a shame that paul hamm is in the center of the controversy, a place i know he would rather not be. i still say he deserved the gold; he did his best, and to me the korean gymnasts weren't as good. i am glad i am not in this situation; i feel sorry for both paul and the koreans! but you know that whenever the olympics take place, there's always going to be controversy, and your poem captures that very well!

The fault was in the judgement of the judges therefore...hamm is innocent of being given the gold. but...if it were me...I would want to win on my own skills and be judged fairly for my skills. There is a cath 22 here. He won.....and was introduced to the world as a Gold medal recipiant...but...now his embarrassment because of the judges mistakes is wolrd news. I can't tell you how my heart aches for this young man. First his exuberance at winning and then to be told you didn't win by default of a few judges...Whose REALLY liable here? This is the question. Whose ethics are at fault?
