Underneath this mask of pain, There is a living person Wanting to Live. Underneath this mask of unbelief, There is a hopeful person Wanting to Trust. Underneath this mask of plenty, There is a hungry person Wanting to be Fed. Underneath this mask of sickness, There is a hurting person Wanting to be Well. Underneath this mask of happiness, There is a tearful person Wanting to Cry. Underneath this mask of loneliness, There is a loving person Wanting to be Loved. Staggeringly brilliant, and to which many of us will be screaming "Yes! Yes" Me, too!!". It doesn't get any better than this, Karla, in terms of expressing the feelings - submerged or not - of the masses, and connecting with each and every one at a very deep level, so as to unlock - and thus, hopefully, to mend and heal - deep wounds. Such is the power of words - and the power of poetry in particular, I think. "It is in the shelter of that hope that I live" - to quote dear Bhuwan, and you are one such who has this divine gift.
