Tell me your life plans. Did they come true , or did your paths take you on a different direction? What do you hope to do? :-) (Just curious.) You'll also see my response. :-) So...ANSWER ME THIS! :-)

Poem Artwork

"ANSWER ME THIS"
~~
What on Earth would you like to be?
What changes would you make?
What would you really like to do?
What pathways would you take?
~~
What dreams have not been realized?
Where would you like to go?
What stopped you from pursuing them?
Did someone tell you, "No"?
~~
What do you wish that you'd been taught?
What lessons have you learned?
Have you done all there is to do?
Or were your bridges burned?
~~
Were you the best friend you could be?
Or did your friendships end?
Did you forgive or did you forget?
Or did you make amends?
~~
Did you say things you did not mean?
And hoped that no one heard?
Did you make anyone feel sad?
With just one hateful word?

What can you do to change yourself?
What can you do right now?
What can you to to reach your goals?
What would you do, and how?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for me, I wanted to be a nurse.
Or work in the medical field.
I was a medic 'til I hurt my back.
And to my health I had to yield.
(I'm a part time cashier and a full time writer now.)
~
I hear Africa.  It is calling me.
So are cold arctic winter nights.
I would love to travel more than I do.
I'd love to see the Northern Lights.
(And yes, many people told me, "No."  And I believed them.)
~
I wish that I'd learned how to live with pain.
I wish I had learned how to cry.
I wish I'd never heard of hate and war.
I wish my mother hadn't died...
(I also wish I had learned how to save more money.)
~
I wish that I hadn't lost touch with friends.
Lost so many, over the years.
I still remember the good times that we had.
Do they remember ME, I fear?
(I remember friends I had back in school.  Where'd they go?)
~
I have said things that I cannot take back.
I say them in moments of rage.
I have made my sister cry, and that hurts.
I wish mouth and brain would engage.
(I have a hard time controlling my mouth when I'm mad.)
~
I would like to be a published writer.
That's why I write at Author's Den.
I would love to do a great many things.
I know one day it will happen.  :-)
(I believe in myself, and I believe in God who gives me words.)
~
Good questions, Karla...except I want so many things, my wants are always changing; but I know where I am and some perhaps are not within my ability to reach. I have been trying to reach more things lately, and that is a good sign that I had at least tried.
Nice write and to answer you here I might have to just wait and let someone write to you after I leave this old earth as I feel things still happening here to me and as I age goals change for me, but for sure not all things I wanted happen and probably was my fault for not taking the step out on the tree limb of life ( fear of it breaking and me falling)
nice write
I hear Africa. It is calling me.
So are cold arctic winter nights.
Wow! I, too, long for both of these. I want to see elephants in Africa, and I want to stand on the North Pole.
A most interesting challenge you have posted, Karla.
I would love to answer you, Karla, but I read this wonderful write through a veil of unremitting tears as I am on the long and winding road of painful resolution, dealing with the buried junk that has shaped and moulded my life thus far. So much of what you say resonates and I feel you speak for me to a certain extent. But I am fully aware of the grace and goodness of an intervening God who has brought me up and out of the bad and fills my life with an abounding good... it's just that NOW is the time to let Him bring up and deal with my past... in order to bring the necessary health and wholeness that will result, I believe - physically and emotionally. You are an awesome writer - HEAR IT, BELIEVE IT - and a voice which shapes and moulds the way we feel and think; in short, you do the job of a powerful influence. Thank you for the way you impact me, and for the totally mind-blowing appreciation you have for my "work"! I am totally humbled and thoroughly underserving. You are an inspiration. TY Kate xx
I guess you could say this one sums it up for me. I had to retire as a nurse but I always loved writing so now I pray I can help by writing about what I know. You did a good job on this one.
Continue believing in God, and you will continue to thrive,
dear Karla.
Ignore those who are blatant doubters. As Bill Cosby said in
his comedy routine:
"When the earth begins to shake, the disbelievers are going
to LOOK UP!"
I, too, want to go to Africa.
