(C) Copy written, 16 November, 2004, by Karla Dorman. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Within the darkness of the womb, Of deepest midnight black, A Light endeavors to be born, Contractions hold it back-- ~ Within the confines of its hell, Pinned down by straps of pain, The Light struggles against their hold, There is rhyme in its veins-- ~ Within the prison of the womb, A fragile heartbeat rings, Demons struggle to put it out, Another heartbeat sings-- ~ And suddenly, the womb explodes! The Light! The Light is born! The heart beats in perfect meter, No more will Poets mourn-- ~ The Light restored joy to the pen, And that's why Poets write: Each word vanquishes the darkness, When it's born into the Light. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (C) Copy written, 16 November, 2004, by Karla Dorman.
I hated that light when I was born, it was cold and too bright, and I wanted back in...damn that doctor, I ought to sue the bastard...he smacked me too hard...ED
Powerful, heart-affirming poem about Christ and the Gifts He has given to those who write. Love the imagery, and the lines "within the confines of its hell/pinned down by straps of pain" really grabbed me. WOW! Terrific job; keep up the spectacular work you are doing! Your poetry never ceases to amaze; this is a jaw-droppin' good write! BRAVA!
