As long as America is more excited to see men crush each other on astroturf than play chess, shove a little ball through a hoop than read poetry, this is the way it's going to be. Money talks and they walk. I echo Lori and add that it's similar to gangsta rap. Everybody says they hate it, but somebody's buying those records and buying into the synergistic marketing strategy that's turned it into a billion dollar industry.

I too get tired of over paid, under talented players who do nothing but whine. They celebrate average plays like they did something awesome. I could retire on just a portion of just one players money. They don't realize it but they're killing the publics want to pay to see them. I used to collect sports items, and since 1999 I finally got fed up with them and said enough is enough. I'd rather watch high school kids play with hearet on Sundays than these overbearing idiots. OK , now I'm in a bad mood LOL
... you not got your equivalent of our darling Jonny Wilkinson, then?! But then, the "gentle" (??!!) sport of Rugby Union hasn't quite made it big over the pond, has it?! Yeah, sometimes the name "sport" is a total misnoma these days, have to agree. And "team spirit" is certainly something the world needs to re-learn afresh, I think! Neat write, as always, Karla. No I don't know, explain it to me in detail (LOL!)...and your right and its a damn shame...even if drugs are being used by the players, just keep it silent and clean up the problem, we don't need to know it all, do we? Ed

Yes yes yes, it sure has ship wrecked the meaning of sport. It's just not cricket...
I quit watching and supporting professional sporting events when the first baseball strike broke my heart. It was then that I realized that players were not playing for the love of the game. I still watch college sports, though. It is great to see the kids on the field/court so excited to have a chance to play. As far as professional sports, you are right Karla, "Enough is Enough" and that was the truth for me many years ago.
