Terrific, Karla! It voices the issue perfectly. The abuser is usually insecure with low self esteem and a temper on top of that. Great write, Karla!

Sadly, many have 'killed love' because of their need to dominate and control and punish and hurt others.

Abuse is not love; it is insecurity and control. What is the worst is that one person in the relationship really did enter it with love, and even with the beatings, rarely loses it. The smart ones leave, but somewhere in their hearts they always hope that the one they loved will wake up and become the person they always believed them to be. A very sad and poignant write, Karla. Good job!

Yup, people who use violence, one finds it is the only way they can articulate themselves.

Whew, very powerful write, Karla. I felt myself tensing up as I read this..bad memories...but this was something that needed to be said. No man who uses his fists to subdue can possibly know love and any man who can look at the woman whose eyes he's blackened or lips he's split and say "I love you" needs to be shot.

Any man who does this to a woman they claim they love is NOT a MAN. He is a BEAST and a MONSTER!! I'd love to see them rot in jail or worse! I can't stand abuse towards a woman in any form. Mental or physical. I'd love to see the Rack come back for men of this nature. Or at least a few town hall floggings.

I find this poignant and I saw that program too. Unfortunately we are working with a young woman right now that has an abusive husband. He found out from someone that maybe another man just might have a little lesson for him. Big brother came home and caught him.
