Senryu Chain: Unenviable Tears

My dear friends in Somalia are safe. I thank God, but dare not celebrate their survival.

Consider the numbers: At last report, over 60,000 perished in the earthquake and resultant waves. Tens of thousands more are missing.

Entire villages were erased. Millions of survivors are now homeless and may die of hunger and increased threats of disease.

Too many nations, already struggling with poverty, drought, famine, disease and war, have had their future decided for them with the loss of entire generations of children and young adults.

If you care, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in their name.

Thank you. :(

The news gets worse
With each minute that goes by
How many more
~~~~~
Tens of thousands
Of future hopes and dreams
Dead or missing
~~~~~
More weight added
Already shaky shoulders
Collapse with grief
~~~~~
Staggering pain
Crosses language barriers
Comprehension
Up to 76,000 .. I can't imagine the hell these people are going through. I made a donation .. Now I am trying to go from door to door to all my neighbors to start a fund to send to the Red Cross.
Staggering pain, indeed, in one of Nature's most violent outbursts in a very long time. Truly a time for man to help his brother.
Always amazes me, the two countries two give the most help, are America and England.
The world would be left in a worse state without us.
Thanks Karla..
thank you for your compassion, Karla. your senyru are right on target. an email received from church wisely suggested we not turn away from the overwhelming sight of death and destruction, but rather keep the tragedy in our hearts and minds and pray for this situation and all hurting humanity, not just today, but every day.
This is a great write, Karla. The numbers, stagering. The feeling, total shock and numbness. I cannot even digest the devastation and death...it is beyond my comprehension. This is such a very sad situation. I pray for them all.
Take care,
Sherry
Tears and prayers flowing all day Karla. I can hardly see straight. thanks for this beautiful senryu expression of compassion and grief. We all must continue to help and pray. I trust Redcross but there are many other ways to give. I dread the days ahead for thos who may become ill, it is an unimaginable situation that needs a savior!
(((Karla)))
It is too unimaginable to comprehend; the reports continue to bring heartbreak and despair to millions around the world. Such a horrible disaster, God be with those who were affected, and God be with those who reach out their hands to help...I certainly will try to do my part to help SOMEHOW! We ALL must band together and help! It is the only right thing to do! Powerful, yet heartbreaking poem, as always, most excellently done! BRAVA!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears, tears, and more tears < (and some joy, as I celebrate our friends in Somalia who are safe! Thank GOD!!!)
The sad part is that disease will kill just as many and perhaps the drug companies can donate vaccine to them.
