I AM OKAY. This just came to me, and so, I write.

Poem Artwork

There's just not anything left
Inside of me.
No inspiration.  No motivation
To carry on.
Where words once dwelt is shriveled and barren,
A dried up place
That no amount of moisture can restore.

There's just not anything there;
The words have died.
I sit here and struggle to write something
That has meaning.
But how can there be any meaning when
There is no life
And the Poet no longer cares to write?

There isn't a single word left to write.
They are all gone.
They ran away and I cannot find them.
I think they knew.
I think they knew that I'm not a Poet,
And rather than
Telling me that to my face, they just...left.

They are not here.  They are not coming back.
My soul is dark.
The Northern Lights, like the Olympic flame,
Has been snuffed out,
And a Poet cannot write without words.
Therefore, I go.
All I ask is that you don't forget me.

It seems to me that over 100 words have stuck around for this interesting poem, Karla. Round them up - and use them again!

Great pen on the way we often deny our God given abilities. Tis the devils work making one feel failure. You Write On

Ditto Eileen, Karla!! You are SOOOOO good at this!! Yes, words are little minxs at times, aren't they? Seems like yours are very playful, with this wind-up of "hide and seek"! All makes for wonderful work though, as usual. And a Poet without words?! Don Paterson has written a poem entitled something like (don't have the book to hand, sorry...): "On Travelling Up The Mountain To Speak With Guru X And Finding Him Not There" - you guessed it... a blank page!! :)) See, can be done! LOL Kate xx

you're a wonderful inspiration even when you think there's no inspiration there, Karla. like you, I try to follow the line of the pen, even when I've no idea what words will come next. Oh, and take a second look, those Northern lights are right there in your poet's soul. :)

You ARE a poet Karla.

And, as far as the words:
"Leave them alone and they'll come home,
wagging their tails behind them."

(((Karla)))

I feel the pain in your words; I hope that you never stop writing; that would be a very dark day for the Den indeed! This is a very heartfelt, deep, and emotive write; your feelings clearly show in your words! You have brightened the Den with your awesome talent; may your Lights shine brighter than the brightest Aurorae! You have a gift that is to be shared, and admired by one and all who read your writings! BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears <

Sis, this was me when I was sent away. I had no life in me, no words to write, no anything. This body moved, but wasn't alive. This is a very deep, poignant and very true (at least for me), poem. You have done it again with your charming verse. I only wish I was half as talented. Thnx for sharing sis, I know every emotion. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie
