i feel old - way-down-low deep-in-my-bones death-in-sight old - my feet march steadily from my birth towards the grave, following the path my ancestors paved long before me - i was born; i have lived and i will die just as they did ... the only thing is, i refuse to die without a fight: i stare death in his face and tell him i'm not coming yet; there's something important that i must do before i die: i take pen in hand and scribe my progress along the way, so the ones who follow won't be surprised by the journey.
Tell, it, my friend!! Keep fighting the good fight!! I will too!! Lately, age has been forcing its way into my mind. . .via my bones and joints, sneaky such-'n'-so. . .guess that happens after you hit 70. NOT important. We will keep aGOin', even after our 'git-up' has gone the way of our teeth!! What is Texan for durn-tootin' ??

Karla, this is an excellent piece clearly illustrating that ones journey must always be well documented, in order for those who are to follow, hopefully will choose the right path. This reminds me of my poem I had posted earlier titled: “Carvers Of Stone.” After all, we are “the keepers of time and carvers of stone.” I enjoyed the read. Thanks for sharing it.
