Alone in my darkness, I lay here, unwilling to face the day. The sun has other plans; it sneaks through the cracks of the blinds, up the side of the bed, and settles, like a cat, onto the covers. Its purring warmth tickles my nose; I try to escape by pulling the covers over my head, but its insistence forces me to finally give up - I awaken and move into the shining light. Its happiness becomes my own as I shower, grateful to be alive.
