Please keep Karen and me in prayer. We've both been laid off.
My position, eliminated. Me, eliminated. But the bills keep coming ... wish I could eliminate them. One thing on top of another, one crisis to the next; now what am I going to do? I'm looking for work, but there isn't much in this small town. They take one look at me, I'm over 40, disabled, "Sorry, we'll call you back," and then they never, ever do. How are they going to call back when the phone's been turned off? No transportation; a lack of education; just a poor person trying to make it ... And how are you going to get experience if they won't give you half a chance? Is this any way to live? It's an endless cycle of frustration ... I feel like I am on a treadmill, running on the fast track leading NOwhere.

I think Karen said it all. Do not ever give up. Someone will take one look at the "you" we've come to love on the "inside" and both of you will be okay and employed, somewhere, soon. Sherry gave some really good examples. I'll be praying for both of you.
I am not happy about this either, but we can't give up. All we can do is look and try to be positive. God may have something better in store; maybe this was for the best. Excellent, heartfelt poem; keep the faith (and I will try to do the same!). Very well done!

Karla,I'm so sorry to hear this news, but I agree with the others and especially Sherry. She gave you some very good ideas to follow through on!Of course I will keep you both in prayer. I'm also sending healing energies to surround your thoughts with positive ones so the negativity will be released and you can feel better and not bitter. Please try to get rid of a downtrodden mind set because we attract the negative ideas that we need least when we are weak.
We know Creator never closes one door without opening another, this is the time to show your faith is true! Bless you both!

I feel your pain deeply as I lived in a small town where work was impossible and even the cities nearby where not much help once I lost my vechile. You know my story so please keep positive thoughts........it does change even when it appears impossible.
Do not get disheartend Karla & Karen, I know that's not much comfort to you both right now; but opportunity wears many faces and comes in many guises. You are both blessed and have a superb talent, one which inspires and comforts people, I believe your paths lie with the written & spoken word. Do not be distracted by the mundane necesities of life (I know all about struggling to exist) it tends to interfere with our dreams. I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. May both your futures be bright.

Girls, this is bad news indeed, but there has to be a way for two as smart and loveable as you are. We will keep you in prayers! Don't give up, sometimes little miracles come without a warning.

Wow!!! This was WalMart who laid you girls off? Unemployment will work for a while and then try a few docotr's offices or chiropractors in the meantime. Is there any chance they will call you back at a later date? Don't quit...the Creator closes one door because he wants you to open at another. Keep your eyes open and you will be successful. My prayers are with you!
There are no words to soothe the abrasive burn that comes with being cast aside, Karla. The only thing I know is to keep a positive attitude and to keep your faith strong. I know that there are businesses you can do from home no matter where you live. Go online and look up Citibank and a few others. Most banks have positions for work at home people and a disability may even work in your favor. They will bring you a computer to do the work on and you log your hours by the time you spend on their site doing your work. I know it seems like a futile situation but all things happen for a reason and if you truly believe, you will find a very bright light at the end of the tunnel. Keep safe and your spirits high. Life is too short to stress out. Contact churches and the Salvation Army, even the unemployment office may be able to offer you some help. Job Corps too! Also try Americans with Disabilities.

I don't know what to say, except in times like this, when you don't know where to turn, when you believe it cannot possibly get any worse, you find out that things have a way of "working out." I wish I knew what to do to help.
