...through air so cold, so bit/ter, it heats on the way d o w n, kept feet firmly planted, rooted to solid ground. k n e w where they were, all times, all hours. no surprises to throw me off the edge, screaming -- then came that day in September: not given a choice: burn or jump.
You have recreated the horror I felt when I saw the scene of one poor desperate person falling through the air. Even the "Fear Of Falling" could not detract from the need to find the save haven of earth beneath his feet.
A day etched into all our minds. Many friends and family injured both emotionally and physically and one family member killed, all for the sake of irrationality.......
I can never foget the image of that couple jumping out of the towers, holding hands knowing that either way they had little chance of surviiving, and I will never forget the horror that was 9'11. A powerful write as always...
God Bless
Michelle~
Sad remembrance...wonderful write...there is enough fire here to light all the memorial candles in the world forever...and never enough tears...to ever extinguish them.
Karla,
This tragedy, so mindless. Your poem expresses how many must have felt on that horrific day as 'hell' broke loose.
As 9-11 approaches, we [each] should remember those who died, pray for them and those who survived, and the families of ALL who were personally involved in all that happened.
I will never forget where I was when I learned of the tragedy and I will never forget the lives lost that sad day in our nation's history.
Thank you for this timely reminder to keep the loved ones of those lost at WTC, The Pentagon, and on Flight 93 in our thoughts and prayers, this coming week. Their hell never ends, regardless of how much time passes.
Some choice, hunh? Either burn alive or jump to your death. Either way, not a good way to go. Brutal reality in simple, succinct, yet affective lines. Very well done, Karla; brava!
Never forget!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <

Impressive and horrific, Karla . . . Wonderful exercise in the mind of terror-influenced horror . . . I like to think that those who jumped did so in order to beat the bastards out of killing them by burning or crushing, they took their OWN damn way out . . . I, for one, shall never get those images from my thoughts . . . Wonderful piece of writing . . .
