Why is it always the children who suffer most? (Tear-stained faces haunt my soul from books, from TV screens, from newspaper articles.) Why do little ones with great big eyes always break my heart in two?

I know how you feel, the media seems to get the smallest child with the largest eye AND is breaks my heart in two.

I had to cancel my subscription to Reader's Digest because I cried so hard through it. I cry over the commercials. Children are our future and there are those that will never understand how important they are. I am with you Karla, I would bring them all home with me but there isn't enough space for all of them. We want to save the world and just the two of us aren't enough! Great write Karla! Thank you!!!!

Because you have a big heart Karla, and if you could you would suffer them, all of them, as our Lord did, and still does.
We have a huge influx here of refugees from Sudan and Kenya, and when you get close to the families, it is hearbreaking to know how they have been torn from their homeland..something we would hate to have happen to us or our children.

Why? Because of the selfishness and greed or bad behaviour of adults, and because of natural disasters. Children don't have the coping skills to get through such monumental events; they're scared, confused. Sad one you have penned today, Karla, and that picture grabs your heart and gives it a good squeeze, as it should. Little children shouldn't have to hurt!

In the savage world of humans, it seems the innocents always suffer the most, and they sadly have since we first walked this planet. Truly makes one wonder about humanity.
The parenting instinct in all of us usually asserts itself not just to our own children but to children everywhere...Good write Karla, striking image.

Me, too, Karla, me, too. Whether it be in Somalia or San Francisco, the abused little ones deserve better. The poor kids grow up (if they survive) believing that abuse is somehow their own fault ... and they grow into abusive adults. To remove those tears, and make those eyes smile, should be our Eagle's Quest. Write on!
