Poem Artwork

Ode to Belly

... no, not the internal that growls
with hunger; the one that settles
low, softly around my hips.  That
one:  the one that cradled life; the
one that marked me as a mother;
the one that makes me an entry
into the world of the cursed --- you
fat slob.  You have remained with
me, never abandoned me, through
diet and exercise; through plenty
and lack; through good times and
bad:  faithful friend.  And so I sing
an ode to tummy:  I will love you
since no one else will accept you.

I've got one too my friend! I like Michelle's thoughts on this, we are all different and not meant to be stick thin, oh well I look at my tummy and try to remember what I looked like before it....and I can't! It does serve as a great reminder that it helped shelter my two beautiful children and that I'm not twenty anymore but I'm alive! Loved this my friend...praying for you all tonight!
Blessings from Ky.

As Fee says we all have one and I happen to be one of those who accepts me and my tummy, we've been together for a few years now sorta attatched. Thanks for sharing.

Newfie hugs are on the way, Rose

Hey, we all have one and believe me not too many escape this world skinny, but we sure would miss our tummys if they had to be removed due to illness so I always am thankful for my spare tire.

In a time of disloyalty, your tummy is always loyal. In a time of lies, your tummy never lies. Be glad you have it. Where would you be without it? Tummies make good pillows. :)

Leave it there, love it, feed it soul food and specialty sweets and treats. It is longing for love and tender care from you. The photo is superior as an ocean lover I admire it very much and thanks for sharing today. Those waves, ooh la laa.

This is a cute poem, and yes, you should love very bit of you. You're not alone. Exercise and diet are common words for us who are past the youthful years.

I'm sure your tummy loves your ode. I think I'll write an ode to my hair, since I still have some left!
