I hope for change and CHANGE to be quick!

These veterans deserve so much and more!

Our shame as a nation should be truly enormous by now, but very few seem to care. And don't limit the blame to Congress, our own President routinely says improving their benefits would 'cost too much.'

Damn Straight. Much more could be done. We spend billions to help other countries while the needs of ours are great. A silver or bronze star, purple heart and even medal of honor never filled an empty belly or consoled an aching heart. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

If, as Gene says just below, military service should be a prerequisite to running for congress, we would have much better for our vets when they are released from active duty...good idea that, unfortuntely is passed its time...ed

Very well said, Karla. My Dad always added to this that congressmen should be on social security with the rest of us instead of having their own pension system. Then see how quickly SS would be reformed, and upgraded. The treatment of veterans is a tragedy...Jerry

Sad when we can't even take care of our own, let alone, our Veterans, who earned the right to the best Government should give them. They were promised good medical care; instead, they have to settle for the dregs or no care at all. Tragic!! A painfully honest, eye opening write of the plight too many Veterans face every day of their lives. Very well penned; brava!
