This is based in part on the jumper I made in Home-Ec. The darts WERE all crooked and the front was longer than the back. Teacher gave me a C- for effort, when I really deserved an F. Guess she knew I worked hard ... my grandmother was a wonderful seamstress. Too bad I didn't inherit her talent! =]

Scissors of wind snip away
at my nerves as fast as I
sew them up: what a mess. Spent
the last six weeks on it. Can't
say I haven't tried: but the
beams are all crooked! The front
of the house is longer than

Oh my... memories came flooding (not thundering or stormin') to my own Home Ec days... cheez... the dumb "Egg Apron"... had to have mom sew it..looked wonderful..then I got a D...barely passed! and mom had a hissy fit..."how dare Ms G give HER SEWING a D!"... well...Ms.G said she KNEW I didn't sew it...:-)) and when I asked WHY the D? She smiled and said..."Your mom may sew well, but she don't know nuttin' about "eggs"....the pocket was too smooth, too flat...and eggs would have smushed!!!!! so much for cheating...duh.. I was famous for not being very home Ec anyway... :-)) great writing Karla... so cute and brought back memories... lindalaw

Karla, this made me smile. It made me remember my high school home ec project. We all had to make a simple, sleeveless dress. My mother bought me the most beautiful material. You should have seen it when I was finished! I can't even begin to describe the disaster it turned out to be! Thanks for bringing back a long forgotten memory!
It sounds as if you and I were spun from the same Home Ec cloth. I was the bane of my teacher's existence. Completely inept as a seamstress! Fortunately I excelled at cookie making and that saved my grade.
I like this one and it does bring back memories of seeing my sisters with Mom sittin at the kitchen table with her old Singer, also of my first project in metal shop (a dust pan that looked like some kind of murder implement). But you know what, the kids today are missing the chance to learn a lot of the skills that came out of those classes. They taught a lot of the basic life skills, if you chose to go further it was then up to you. Anyway another great one Karla that I am sure awoke a lot of memories in people our age.

Sounds like you and I are in the same terms with Home EC LOL, I sewed my finger in the machines, and sewed the legs together on the shorts, not my class LOL, Nonna taught me to sew with a needle and thread but never on a machine
