Who are you, with razor sharp
pen, with no titles to call
your own? Who are you, the one
with the critical eye to
s/l/i/c/e my words until they no
longer fit? They were fine, these
words of mine; didn't write for
you, wrote for me and the few
who think I can. Leave us be.
I can relate to your predicament, and I'm glad you let it out in this
piece. Remember not to let the views of others shackle your gift or
"dictate" what you freely write, and consider those whose comments are VALID, for you know they want the best for you. We love you Karla!
Stretching and growing aren't a bad thing. Reviews that discuss such things are hard to take, but good. There is a difference, however, between doing that, and just plain being critical and rude. --Charlie

I bet those who criticize you are just jealous because they can't write as well as you can. And you step it up a notch with your photos! EXCELLENT advice, and keep on writing, taking pictures! Very well done, Karla; brava!

I think there are far too many sensitive souls here in the den who quickly jump to the defensive side. I think many of the critics mean well for the individuals when they make a comment.
No one is going to wake up in the morning and think of a scheme to hurt someone's feelings. That is absurd!!!
I know what you mean, Karla. But there are certainly some people on this board who are wayyyy far tooooo sensitive to any critques, even when they mean well.
There are also some individual who writes pretending that everyone on this board is after them or something. They write as though the whole world is against them, and then scold the poets here on this board for how they personally feel.
These people wake up not being happy and then write things to scold the whole board just to satisfy their anger inside themselves even when there's no one here is after them. Is it fair to the poets here on this board?
I know what you mean by writing for yourself only. I too, write for myself, but I don't pick on the poets here on this board, especially most people on this board are good people. Some have gone through a whole lot in their lives and find this board to release their sorrows, I have NEVER NEVER NEVER seen anyone being hostile on this board. To have someoe wake up every morning and everyday yap about how unjustly they have been citiqued by others is absurd. I don't agree to that.
You can wake up being angry at the whole world. but you can't drag the whole world of good people down with you. That's what I have been trying to convey to some individual here.
You don't just wake up being angry at yourself and then at others too, especially NO ONE HAS ABSOLUTELY DONE ANYTHING TO THIS PERSON. Everyone here is very supportive and NO ONE HAS DONE ANYTHING TO ANYONE.
Why stir it up for nothig? Some people are just angry at themselves and want to scold everyone in sight. No matter what you say to them is no good. They take to the defense. THAT IS TOTALLY IMMATURE!!!
Good for you Karla. This is a great write and so perfectly said. Not everyone may like what we write but we write for ourselves; for our souls and for God. You tell 'em my friend.
Sadly some people do go overboard with their critics and it does hurt, I hope who ever inspired this write Karla will read and understand that.
