We should keep neutral, his or her, the violence at home could and did scarred four children that did not have a choice.
Some people should not have children, if their married life would be one of provocations and violence, because a blackened eye will pass, but the blackened eye inside the children will never go away.

Really strong message in such a brief poem. Sad to say, some women "accept" the violence and get back to the abuser for more. Can't figure that out.

You're so right Karla, it must stop. Men who beat on women are generally control freaks and when challeneged, or even think their being challenged, the poor woman pays. Your poem is extremely well written. I applaud you.

Powerful and beautifully written, Karla. I've never understand
how a guy could abuse his wife or child, and then swear his love
for the abused. These guys whould be locked up, but sadly it
rarelyty happens. Great last line. Love, gene.
