Thank you for sharing with us Raelynn, for I remember the fear of helping with homework and I feel where your heart is, I feel the sadness and hope with time will have the hapiness you so deserve.

The homework, the dedication to acheivement and the sadness of being alone. To have had the ability to "taste ... the bitter tailing" implies [to me] that you had something with which to compare it.
In simple language - your tongue will, again, taste that sweetness before you know it.

So very emotionally expressive, like a roller coaster before it makes its way back to the starting point. Could both see and understand the anxiety of homework only to do it again the next day. Good writing....

I could feel your fear as the thoughts of doing more homework would make me shiver as well, the domestic scene unravels a bit though as the single parents heart and feelings come into play...you blended your lonliness in so well from the transition of doing homework with your child to the memory and wanting of a kiss. It is never easy Rae but your heart is true and it will endure and grow stronger with each year your son grows older. You will be the example he will follow.

I didn't take Geometry in High School. My school only required two HS Math credits. I took Algebra I in 8th grade, as an elective counting towards high school and Algebra II in 9th. How I remember the days and the many times my parents helped me with my homework. All of the homework may be time consuming for the parent, but I think parental assistance shows a great deal of compassion, thus allowing the child to become a better person, himself.

Good luck, this school year, RaeLynn. This poem is cute, but holds a lot of truth, too.

You really have a vast array of life in this one picture of the tongue. Loved how you compared the various taste to life itself.
