I feel

Poem Artwork

I am still able to feel,
I wish it wasn't for real.
I wish for feelings no more.
No one knocking at my door,

Asking me to feel.
I can not give anymore.
My feelings have been laid bare too many times,
And each time salt has been rubbed into the wound.
I can only feel more pain, mistrust or shame.
I am the only one to blame.
I am not the heartless bastard, sometimes I envy.
For feelings just are.
We do not ask for them,
I do not wish for them.
I wish they would let me be.
For just a while.
Feelings cannot be blotted out by drink, nor drugs, nor can they be replaced by new ones,
only just for a time.
They return with a vengence and ask.
"Why are you doing this to yourself?
My self? My self, has been lost in all the feelings.
Who am I any more? Shell comes to mind. Of my former self. Left with only feelings of another place in time.

Fabulous writing, yet so sad Walt, something we probably all do at different times in life. Enjoyed reading your work...Hugs and Love Peggy

I'm with Holly here, as I just noticed this write as well.
The agony of our feelings is sometimes too much, and as I can relate to this, it seems that sometimes the only way to get through loss is to blot it out for a time.
Of course we all have to deal with it eventually, but the brain needs respite too!
Here's hoping that each time you gaze at the sky, look for the southern cross and know you Kiwi/Ozzie pal is right there for you.
Hugs
Ch'erie

Leaves one with many questions to ponder over. All lessons we each must face and learn. Time does heal and soon you begin to pick up, gain strength until you feel yourself again. Never allow the past to drag you down, always look to the future and how you want it to be.....

Be safe,
Karen

Despondent, one blows out the flame from the only candle, and afterward we ask ourselves why are we surrounded by darkness.
Then, the feelings will come, like invisible devils to stab us with their little needles, pain, we are not in the dark anymore.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY BROTHER!!! I AM VERY HAPPY YOU ARE HERE AND I CAN ENJOY YOUR WRITINGS, THEY ARE QUITE WONDERFUL.
THIS LAST POEM IS VERY BEAUTIFUL AND YOU ARE SO CORRECT WITH THE LINE
"Feelings cannot be blotted out by drink, nor drugs, nor can they be replaced by new ones"
BUT WITHOUT THE FEELINGS, NONE OF US COULD ENJOY MUCH, LIKE FOR EXAMPLE, BEING ABLE TO EXPRESS WHAT YOU EXPRESS SO WELL. NOR COULD WE KNOW THE LOVE THAT SURROUNDS US.
I HOPE YOU CAN FOCUS ON HOW YOU CAN MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER, YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN, YOU ARE SO BLESSED WITH MANY THINGS.

LOVE YOU LOTS AND I HOPE YOUR BIRTHDAY IS A REALLY GREAT ONE, ENJOY WHAT AND WHO YOU ARE. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DIRECT YOUR LIFE, EMBRACE ALL OF IT. OUR FEELINGS ARE ALWAYS WITH US AND WE ALONE MAKE THE CHOICE AS TO HOW WE REACT TO THEM.

KATHY

A touching write that begs for an answer, and the answer is still even though you disagree at this stage of pain...time and another love to replace what was...
Hang in there and you will see that I am right...in time.

I am not the heartless bastard, sometimes I envy.

I have felt envy for them many times in my life, myself, my friend. And most of them sleep extremely well, too - not a care in the bloody world. But when I ponder it awhile, I begin to feel pity for them, and I'm then glad I can still feel.
