Like the Siren song of olden days, she beckons.
With her emerald aquamarine eyes, she beckons.
She calls to her lovers with a voice like the wind.
Rocking her lovers with gentle sways like a mother rocks her infant,
But also chastising those same lovers with her sometimes tempestuousness .
She steals from other women, the men who become enrapt with her allure.
Takes them from home, family, a life of certainty, without suprises,
And casts them to her whishes and whimsical moods.
She gives life and takes life but she is still irresistible.
Like all women she is easy to forgive, but long to forget,
To truly understand her no man has of yet.
A mystery she still seems even to me,
Because no one will ever know the sea.

A warm and inviting maiden among many!
To take your lulls out further, to where love can still be found!
Maybe on your hull!

This is great nature poetry, and the sea is a reckless lover and so many men have bent to her will, really loved this, adding it to my library!! Blessings, Michelle
Walt, my uncle was a captain in the merchant marines,he wrote a poem many years ago similar to this one that made a strong impression on me.The ocean is smy favorite place, and I regret that I'm no longer in eyes view of it as I used to be. I miss it terribly. I'm about 30 minutes from it now and can't see it every day. Excellent poem!
Water, in all it's forms has always beckoned me. Drowned at the age of four, she holds me still... I used to watch the water trickle down the corn-field furrows-- one drop leading to five, then a tiny stream-- amazing how it puddles, evaporates, rages, squalls, whirls, blips, combines into terrifying forces, becomes a motionless mirror in a pond, or drops in gentle life-giving splatters on the thirsty earth. You're right. No one will ever know the rain. And yet... isn't it true that every drop obeys the word of God? --Charlie
What a gem! I'm not a sailor, but I do love the sea. This beautiful picture just underlines the deep calmness of her and how easily she can change from deep calmness to trecherous depth.
Loved it!

Walter, this is a real beauty, I also love the sea because I feel free, full of energy, alive, etc., as I sit watching her beauty draw me in. I liked this!
Talk about a moody woman, the sea will always be a mytsery of unpredictability for man. Once under her spell your demands of her will always be unsure.
As well, that same sea does speak to me and has done so since I was a little child & hopefully will till I die...beautiful thought provoking picture & poem...Ed
