The Dance

A generic look at friends and lovers.

Poem Artwork

He sees her before she sees him,
His heart begins to sing,
Knowing the dance is about to ensue.

The lovers dance is a look,
A certain smile recognized.
A toss of the hair,
And tilt of the head.

The verbal banter leads to a laugh,
And a touch.
Whisper in her ear and inhale her,
A touch of Jasmine on a Summer's Eve.

Another glass of wine perhaps,
As they move a little closer,
Conversation a bit deeper now,
She admires his intellect,
As does he her's.

Passion rises near the boiling point.
Still sometimes he wonders.
How his desire can be so fresh,
For this woman by his side?

Today, it's been twenty-five years,
Since he made her his bride.

"The Dance" is a psychological state of being Walt. You are right on. When two lovers dance their dance it is a waltz and a samba. I like your metaphor. Send us another when you get the urge to write a spell. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

I've heard it said that passion can override the years. Ah, but in real time, it is a miracle that it does.

I don't mean to take one thing away from your poem, which I found to be well-written and sincere. An pure love can certainly withstand the years, but physical attraction? Maybe that does taper of a bit as we age and grow sturdier. Haha!
