She stands at the altar of her dreams
one foot in church
the other on the beach
one path offers pain
the other freedom
She gazes up at the man on the cross
spreads her arms wide
clenches her fists
Hurt me, too
she cries into the blue face without eyes
Hurt me, too
she murmurs
glancing at the blood sprung from her hand
flesh rent by her own nails
Hurt me, too
she whispers
realizing why the blue face is empty
She is
we all are
our own god
