Fortunes of love, just for the picking,
In dark alleys, city dumps, in day or night,
Take care some might your face be licking,
Others run away in fright,
Not as friendly, yet too, in need,
Another, species of the realm,
Runaways, from boundless greed,
If you care, their poverty, might overwhelm,
Such misery in huddled rags,
Squeezed into, doorways, corners tight,
Their all, they have in plastic bags,
Penniless, and out of sight,
Fortunes have in heart and soul,
That glitters not, if struck by light,
But if searching fortunes, is your goal,
You’d have to see with different sight,
It all depends, how in the end,
You will exchange that currency,
If love, or gold, your soul will mend,
The interest banked, you’ll happy be.©26/04/2012

There is wisdom and substance to reflect upon in what you have shared via your verses here, Jasmin. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Our four legged friends will never desert, and will continue warming the bodies, hearts and minds of man always...

Love, Diana...
As for the man in the photo. Both man and dog are better off for sleeping together on a one dog night. Just so that the dog doesn't have fleas. Some of these men wouldn't come in out of the cold no matter what you offered them. Their dogs love them nonetheless.
