Ode to my daughter.

My daughter, on this day you came into our world.
A new arrival, as perfect as can be.
‘Girl or boy?’ we cried. ‘Girl!’ was the answer.
We had tears in our eyes, our faces filled with joy.
‘She’s here, our little girl is here!’
You were crying from exposure, your new world a surprise.
‘It’s alright, my sweet! You’ll be safe and loved with us!’
Our hearts were melting with your little cries.
Briefly I saw your perfect, angelic face.
You were placed in your Daddy’s arms, helpless, little, vulnerable.
Your arms were out wide and your precious chin was quivering, with helpless cries.
Your Daddy scooped you to his heart, crooned to you.
And you felt his warmth and tenderness.
We are so very proud to be your parents.
And everyday we thank the angels for bringing you to us.
