Someone asked cheerfully, “How have you been doing?”
Do you want the truth or a lie?
Swimming in the bowels of Acheron
Poisonous pit of pain
Desperately clawing the devilish black
Muddy banks
Where protruding branches were no more
Than two-edged swords
Slicing, cutting
Ripping through flesh
Time and time again
Only to keep my chin above
Just enough that my only reprieve
For air was the most foul of marsh gases
With the strength of a heart
Dragged through razor lorn valleys
Soaked with despair
Desolate of hope
Only sound I heard
Were the demons wheedling
Like locusts, constant
Non-stop
Suffocating noise
To stop my endeavor to escape
Only thing I could see were
Glittered webs of emotions
Spun anew each day
A display of my own salty dew drops
For the waning resonance of his energy
My son
Solidified the final good-bye
That is the truth
So I lied
As I read this, I sensed some great turmoil in your life that brought about writing this poem, perhaps the death of your son. I also sense that he may have been disabled in some way. But I can only surmise and I have often been wrong, because your words are cloaked in mystery.
