of my presence here today
on this beautiful September day.
I walk along the beach so sure,
leaving my footprints as a cure;
for mindless thoughts of love gone by
I am thinking that I should try;
to be more aware of the earth's healing power;
and pray for guidance at this hour.
I catch a glimpse of waves washing ashore;
leaving nothing ever more.
It takes two waves to clear the prints,
and at that moment I get a glimpse,
of how easily they can be erased
By the waves that have just chased;
All remnants of each step I took,
It has happened in one quick look.
Footprints are a step in time,
And I know that they were mine.
Author's Notes: It was an intriguing sight today, to see my footprints washing away. They faded as the waves washed ashore, and I was inspired to write this poem.
Ahhhh the beach moves us all!

When you have a chance, stop by corner of the den, and I hope I touch your heart also ~~~
Hi Amber,
Welcome to AD and I am happy to have found your work. As someone who lives near the Gulf Coast, I can attest to the surreal nature of the ocean and the beach. At times, seeing footprints fading away can bring a sense of loss, representative of time passing quickly, but then again, we grow stronger with each passing moment. Maybe witnessing a scene like this is a gift.
Thank you for this inspired and insightful poem.

Written much the same, though mine was in the days I could easily see my son, till she got boyfriend, and ran off.... The feeling is similar...
Welcome!
The poems in this beautifully bound book are a result of over twenty years of observations. Observations of the world around us and on the telecommunications network. All of the hate, love, heroism, disasters, and those who help.
