Last night I was unable to sleep, I walked out on my upper deck and was completely blown away with how still the night was.
That stillness was the inspiration to this poem.
"The Stillness of The Night"

It was 3:15 a.m. I was restless,
Stepping out on my deck,
The night was as still as it was dark.
The darkness surrounded my vision,
but the stillness moved me.
It was completely calm and quiet.
Never a time did I feel such stillness.
It carried me to the depths of my restlessness.
It stirred a longing so deep within me.
I was speechless for a moment;
overtaken with the awe and beauty
of the stillness in this night.
It calmed my nerves, it soothed my soul,
I felt oneness with this night.
I felt alive beyond compare.
The stillness was the darkness reborn.
The stillness tendered the night.
The stillness remains deep within my soul!

The night's stillness gave me calmness and the ability to see through the darkness.

I started my dark poem triology series today, some wavelength we are on, huh- I think I wrote of it in my earlier poem!not quite dark, but a few are about to be!
FEEL the stillness calling out to you!
WRapped in comfort for you to hold onto!
Focus on finishing jobs ahead
as you re-aquaint what's rolling in your head!

We often forget how simple things can be so special until we unexpectely "see them" again. Ths stars are there every night but we forget about their brilliance, the sand on the beach is washed clean for us to walk barefoot in, the snow turns everything to pure white beauty for us to feel clean again and this poem reminds us that life is short but and we need to take time to enjoy the truly precious gifts of earth.
This was an interesting and great piece of art!!!!! Keep up the great job!!!

A very nice right. eery almost it would seem to me to have darkness, stillness and quiet all at the same time. It would be like that moment when all things sleep...of course but you who apparently was wide awake at 3:15. Good write though. Lady J
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
