"Wounded Dove"

Silently my mind wandered
Was he done?
Is it over?
Am I dead?

My body was frozen
My mind alive and warm
my blood still pumping
through my wounded heart.

Make him vanish
make him think I am dead
for I will be the one victorious
and he will be wishing he was successful.

I shall lie quietly,
pretending to be gone,
when the moment is right
I will flee into the night.

Did he not know
that you cannot kill
someone who is already dead?
What a fool he is..

Hours alone on that putrid floor
waiting for that ice cold man
to walk out that door.
Now is my chance.

I slowly move my eyes,
looking for a sign
that he has left this scene
wondering if it is time.

The spirit moves me,
I am awake,
I shall sit and then take flight
Off I go into the wind

A wounded dove
nothing to give
sentimental journey
of love gone dark

A fateful hunt
about to embark.
The icy man
will never return

to this wounded dove
and a once
cherished love
that was butchered so easily.

Rising above the ground,
making not a sound,
I hunt all night to find
remorse of a strange kind.

I find his deadly blade
shining under the full moonlight,
ready to pierce his next victim,
only to find my very own child.

Confrontation aborts the kill,
and he reels from my presence,
Confusion invoked violence
striking out once more to me.

My wounded heart cannot feel
anymore pain that he can deal
so now the table is turned
and he is impaled upon his own sword.
