"A Dream Of Tumas" (Karena Series)

by Amber "V" Moonstone   7/12/08

I awoke to the sound of the crow,
it was the loudest cawing I have ever heard.
I immediately checked on my children.
All three still fast asleep.

Sometime during the night,
after the full moon rose,
I fell asleep thinking of you.
My mind drifted to one of those days.

It was a bright August day,
The sun was incredibly hot,
and I was restless and took a walk.
As I approached the stream, you were there.

Standing in natural magnificence
You were bathing yourself,
I knew at that moment "I loved You",
My heart was pounding ever so fast.

You had the most beatiful body,
any brave could desire.
Strong arms, sturdy back,
and those legs, that could run for hours.

Your hair glistened beneath the sunlight,
and your body exuded masculine powers,
My heart was captivated,
and I wanted more than just a peek !

I quickly turned away,
but I knew you saw me watching.
Many years later you told me
that you saw me watching you that morning.

Our love was pure, and real,
Two kindred souls merging
like crashing stars in the darkest night,
sending comet streams back to earth.

I miss your smell, your hands,
Your heart, and your wisdom.
Tumas, I know your spirit is with me,
but my body craves your loving presence.

I cannot go on alone,
I must seek out a companion,
I know that living without physical pleasure
is not healthy for the mind or body.

I shall speak with Chief Powhatan,
he can help me with the right choice.
He is a very loving and wise Chief.
One day, Tumas, We will be together again.

The sun is rising on a new day,
today will be the day to find my mate,
I shall go without fear,
and begin to heal.

To live the life
The Great Spirit
has chosen for me,
and become a family once again.

The crow has stopped his noise,
now I can fall back to sleep,
and dream of those days,
That Tumas was in my arms and in my bed.

September 1609

Love this and glad you are continuing your saga. It tells us love is possible again after loss. Just have to find the right spirtual person and go on and love again. Not many do, but some do and this is great. A very great write in the series.

I recommend our own Den's Native American author, Jake George who is the Chief of the Turtle Clan in Florida, who is also my editor. You should read his two books, "Grandfather's Song" and the follow-up novel also released, "A New Dawn." Much of what you have written here is what Jake has written in his novels I mention, the past into the present...He would also be interested in perhaps publishing your upcoming book, as Jake is the Senior Editor at Virtual Tales...good poetry, Amber...

Sage
