Powhatan Plans An Attack

Troubled dreams awakens
the powerful Chief.
He knows that Karena is right,
He must summon the Elders.

“I urge you to begin to formulate a plan,
the white man is planning

To attack our people, we must

Protect our land and sacred ground.

I have heard from the Great Spirit,

He has spoken of the ill prepared
settlers.  We have the power to

Starve them back to their homeland.

Let us stop all trading,

Negotiate no furs, corn, or fish trading.
We must not allow them to survive

This next winter.

When this winter season ends,

The white man will be abolished,
and we will regain our land,

And our people will be safe and prosperous.”

The Elders went into seclusion,

What seemed like hours,

Was really only two hours

When they returned to the counsel dwelling.

The oldest member of the counsel, “Bright Moon”,

Stood up, looked at Powhatan and spoke,

“Powhatan, you are a great chief, you have

Lead our people for many years,

We are going to trust in your decision,

The white man will be starved out of our land,

We have made many attempts to help them,

But they refuse to accept what we have offered,

Instead they steal our crops,

Burn our villages,

Rape our women,

And continue to dispel our wisdom.

Yes it is time for them to go back,

To their English homeland,

They do not respect our land, or values.

They do not know how to live in peace and harmony with the people of our nation.

They deserve everything

that is about to happen to them.

The Great Spirit has spoken,

He gives us strength on this decision.

(The Native American Ten Commandments)

1.   Remain close to the Great Spirit

2.   Show great respect for your fellow beings.

3.   Give assistance and kindness wherever needed

4.   Be truthful and honest at all times

5.   Do what you know to be right

6.   Look after the well being of mind and body

7.   Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect.

8.   Take full responsibility for your actions.

9.   Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.

10.                   Work together for the benefit of all mankind.

All Powhatan people, live by our commandments,

We shall die by them too.

Now go my Chief, set forth your plan

Into action and save this sacred land of the Powhatan People!

Chief Powhatan, walked away with a heavy heart,

He knew he must carry out this plan,

Reality can be a cold bite to swallow,

But at least he will be fighting for a just cause.

“SAVE OUR MOTHER EARTH, AND THE POWHATAN NATION WILL REIGN OVER ADVERSITY ONCE MORE !”
