Guided Toward Answers (Karena series)

The early morning hours are my time,
I awaken before everyone to greet the sunrise,
It is a moment that I hold in my soul,
The Great Spirit and I are one for that solitary moment.

I must leave my children with the women,
I need to find Tumas,
He has been gone too long,
I fear he has died at the hands of the white man.

Tumas lives in the middle of two worlds,
The world in which he was born, my world,
and the white man's world where he was lost.
He needs to come back to his people.

As I kiss my children good bye,
The morning sun rises in the east,
The direction in which I will travel.
The children will be safe here with the Powhatan people.

As I ride away, I have a premonition,
The Great Spirit will guide me, and I will find Tumas.
Many days follow, and many nights deem long.
I will not give up my journey to find my love, Tumas.

My visions guide me, I spy the cabin seen in my dreams
I boldly walk up to the door and knock,
A little child comes to the door and screams to his mama,
"Mama, it's a savage woman"

A beautiful blonde white woman comes to the door,
She has a shot gun in her hands,
"Please maam, I come in peace, I wish no harm"
"Who are you? What do you want here?"

Karena introduces herself and tells the woman
why she is there.
The woman begins to cry, and lets Karena in.
She brings her to a loft where a man is sleeping.

Karena looks at the man and begins to cry out,
"What is his name? He needs healing very badly"
He says he is "Tumas, and has been shot
so very close to his heart"

"Yes, maam, he is gravely wounded.
Do you know who did this to him?"
"No, I found him on my front porch two days ago."
"What is your name, maam?"

"I am Dorothy Hamilton, and this is James, my son."
"Good Day, Mrs. Hamilton, now can you help me."
"Of course, what do you need me to do?"
"After you get me some supplies, you must pray".

"Pray to your God, and to mine, the Great Spirit"
Karena, went to work, cleaning up his wound,
Giving Tumas healing touch, and powerful herbs,
while praying to the Great Spirit and her Eagle guide.

Karena tended to Tumas for five days,
Upon the morning of the sixth day,
Tumas opened his eyes, touched her head,
that was resting on the side of his bed.

"Karena, you have come for me, I have prayed
to the Great Spirit to help me, and he has sent my wife"
"Oh Tumas, you know who I am? Oh this is wonderful"
"Yes, I began to regain my memory, but I was ambushed"

"I have been trying to come back to you"Tumas explained
but Karena interuppted him,
"The Great Spirit came to me in a dream,
He showed me where you were, and guided me here"
"Karena, You are truly a Medicine Woman, my woman!"

They hugged and held each other for a very long time.
Dorothy and James were so happy that he was alive.
"Karena, my son and I will leave you two alone for a while,
we want you to have some privacy."

Karena and Tumas talked for hours,
touching and kissing and laughing.
Weeks passed by, and on the full moon,
Tumas was able to ride back to Powhatan country.

Karena had faith in the Great Spirit,
She was protected by her Eagle Spirit guide,
but more than anything she was sure of one thing,
Her powerful love connection to her Tumas.
