"Distant Shore"
by Amber "V" Moonstone

3/29/11

The misty air surrounds her
like a warm blanket on a cold night.
Temptation fills her with desirous thoughts
as her eyes turn toward his distant shore.

How can one survive this delerium,
when the fog speaks of many voyages,
so many times lover's have been lost
buried beneath the turbulent waves.

Careless acts of daring,
crossing the frigid waters,
hoping to arrive at a safe harbor,
only to be swept away by remorse.

Fearless endeavors complicate
sensibility and safety,
dashing all hopes for the earnest
that awaits the arrival that never transpires.

Torn between love and honor,
the sailor chooses the later,
and disappoints the stranded lass,
leaving her yearning for his love.

Distant shores become dim,
filled with the misty air of evening,
as shimmering teardrops fill the merky waters,
while standing beneath a crescent moon.

Amber, That choice is always the hardest to make when your in love...My father used to say: ya gotta do what ya set out to do...If you love something set it free if it comes back it was meant to be...I can relate to this poem that is beautifully written by you! Take care my sweet spirit sister! Chessly

The images are exceptional, Amber, filled
with wonder, longing and loss...and waiting
for a loved one and for love is haunting.

Awaiting arrival by the shore has got to be the most meaningful and symbolic of all anticipatory or yearning images. An ocean of feeling is conjured by your words here, Amber; feelings that both unite and divide. But, my, is water an amazing conduit and medium of subliminal communications also! You capture all this and more in your words of loss and longing. xx

Sad tale, but realistic in many ways. We males are all vagabonds at heart, which the females are the ones who wait and cry. Good word on this, Amber.
