Family

School is out for summer,
let the fun begin,
run through the sprinkler,
soak in the sunshine.

Yes, summer has begun,
frolicking and carefree,
no more homework, no more rules,
just sun, sand, and the sea!

If only every child could have,
a blissful summer time,
the world would benefit,
for they would grow into happy adults.

Summer isn't always a happy time,
for some lonely children,
they are shuffled off to camp,
grandparents, babysitters,  or summer school.

They are the children of working parents,
never knowing what family could be,
always on the go according to the adult's schedule,
never feeling quite loved or honored.

These are the children that become independent,
often finding success without fullfillment,
only driven to succeed by example,
never having the chance to know Family.

If only parents could slow down,
see who your children really are,
what they need to be nurtured,
then life would be blissful and carefree for them.

If you can find a moment to smell the roses,
give your children a chance to be happy from within,
perhaps you might also gain some bit of peace
and find your family once more!
