It's uncomfortable to live with them… They stand rock solid, steady at the stem, Although now their numbers are few. They're moral strangers amidst the nations, Forever living with condemnations… This infernal, odious Jew… In face of all odds they are still alive… To live, by higher moral code, they strive; Codes writ on stone tablets… Hebrew… They introduced the wide world to "One God", To govern by virtue and not the Rod… This infernal, odious Jew… They gave "Messiah" to half of the world, To other "The Prophet" to spread the word… From diverse words conflicts ensue… Who is to blame for all the ills of Man? Find a scapegoat and beat him while you can… This infernal, odious Jew… They taught the world to live and to let live, The holy privilege to serve, to give Help to Man and to God "His" due. They cheated history by surviving, Living with hate, pogroms, yet still striving… This infernal odious Jew… New nation they built out of ash and dust, Based on high morals, love for life, and trust… The envy of neighbours they drew… Pushed in a corner, they were forced to fight The neighbours hate and fanatical might… This infernal, odious Jew… The world 's irritated by their presence, By their all enduring moral essence, That gives them the strength to renew. Mankind's dirty conscience they 'ever prick, That is why the world beats them with a stick… This infernal, odious Jew… Well, hate them, despise them, it's all the same, You are the one, who'll have to live with shame, You're welcome; just join the queue… They will stand upright, alone if they must, In the knowledge that their cause is right 'n just… They… the despised, odious Jew… Once more Holocaust maybe upon them, Dark forces are lining up to condemn, They'll stand to the last extant few… Your dirty conscience they'll return to haunt, Moral cowardice forever to taunt… They… the despised, odious Jew… © P. I receive daily reminders about violence, harassment, vicious propaganda, from the world over. No matter how some fanatics wish to deny the Holocaust, it is an established and undeniable historical fact. I, personally, lost more than a third of my family between 1939 and 1945 as a result. It still burns in my memory. In fact, the Holocaust never stopped. It is happening in the world right now. Jews are not the only victims of hate, prejudice, injustice and brutal murder. The time is now to stand up against this malicious virus. A remarkable, moving, unsettling poem. Its substance digs deep in the core, but the composition itself is an example of beautiful, skillful writing. Very fine.

unfortunately, the world continues not to learn from its past mistakes and isolates its hatred and prejudice on the jewish people ... a sad and extrememly disturbing scenario ...

Another Hitler I think will never happen though I realize there are so many crazies out there that could try to destroy the Jew, but I think they are too strong & too knowledgable nowadays to allow another like the Nazi reich & such...but what do I know...ed

Wow, right out of the Bible and could not be more true. We could all use a few lessons relating to mankind, learning the past and remembering it too. Without the knowledge you are right, history will just continue to cycle and repeat...

To me, the Jewish people are very prevalent and evident and I love them all just as I love every race and creed. Almost every movie I watch has prominent Jewish presence. Almost every book I read has prominent Jewish presence. They threatened Hitler's insane view of the world; hence the incredible persecution. I accept and love all races, religions; we are all simply human and to think otherwise is incredibly ignorant. As well, we seem to have no control of where we are headed. Thank you, Peter. This magnificent poetic work, "The Odious Jew…", mingles in voice and strength with Poet Sara Coslett’s Sonnet, “Life with Cause”, and gives us background and historic inspiration to invite all human being to meet at the Hall of Humanity.

Always working and giving example of what a true citizen must live up to ~ in deeds and actions ~ to become a free memeber of humankind, I have kept my journey to Justice for Justice everywhere.

There is only ONE RACE on the planet EARTH. Those who said ~and say contrary to this~ are the true PROMOTERS of INDUSTRIAL WARS AND SOCIAL UNREST.

Peter thank you for posting this precise and honest portrayal of how the Jewish people have been the target of hate over the centuries. Yet, as you have also shown, we have managed to survive. In fact, not only do we survive, but also we continue to join with others in offering our intellect and skills to the world in the hopes of making a better life for all, not just the Jewish people.

I am sorry to learn of your family. My mothers suffered the same fate. Those who didn’t flee or die from the Russian Pogroms (my grandfather was the only one who escaped to Israel in the early 1920’s with a pregnant wife and two children), were then wiped out by the German’s.

Thank you for including a link to the video, “The Path to the Final Solution”. Every one of us needs to stand up against Anti-Semitism for the last time.
