Blackbirds chattered dusk in far-off birch trees
so we knew of the coming October darkness
when no longer would the water escape the wind
gentle sunlight sparkling a steady call to roaming sailors
we watched from the window wrapped in a blanket
the warmth of your breathing on the nape of my neck
blessed to be there in the safety of your loving embrace
my seashell kisses a necklace you’d wear against your skin
your song stirred me and the tree branches bowed to your beauty
and I couldn’t blame them for it reflected into mine own eyes, too
the way that your voice hung as low as departing red leaves
soothing and shifting to the beat of the time in my soul
a part of me today was given to you complete
like a song or a sonnet with all the lines and beats
I knew it as it passed before me on its short way
still clinging as it did to the waves dip and sway
Be always safe,
Karen

I copied the pic to paint when I get the chance, mostly for the colors which are exquisite.

Sweet verses, Michelle. You get so much from a painting and your readers (me included) are the beneficiaries of your expressive interpretations. Thank you. Love and blessings to you,
