Clanging buoy, you’ve returned in your weighted shell
the steady rolling of waves fill and throw you back to me
your sounding alerts me to your rope that ties me well
pulling me through my weakened resistance to your sea
And who wouldn’t want to be swallowed up by you
your fullness to warm and an expanse of changing blues
this broken only by the cotton filling of a wispy view
and the demands of summer sun in long and wavy hues
Of men and myself, this watch becomes a contradiction
though common in patience, in feelings, remote galaxies
a warning flag of purest white hung high with conviction
a place responded inside to remind me of your realities
I could not shed my deeper colors for your drifting fleet
still my promise remains to listen for your distant bell
from here to there your decisions doomed only to repeat
as a woman strong I share the tumult that the men repel
