I have this little silent friend,
Who follows me around,
He trails along behind me,
Does my silent little friend,
He follows me about by day,
But by night he’ll disappear,
And whenever I try to speak to him,
He never seems to hear,
I wonder who he really is,
I’d really like to know,
Cause he copies every movement,
Wherever I decide to go,
With body black and simply plain,
He’s always by my side,
Until the sunlight fades away,
He’s like the leaving of the tide,
I wonder who he really is,
I think I just might know,
He’s the boy within my person,
For he is my own shadow.
