Dance of Flame

Body clings to her dress of red,
dancing flame, she sways in time,
fixated on wall of silhouettes,
of elegance and grace so fine

Breeze whispers through window,
extinguishing candle's flick,
for now this dance has ended,
till another, ignites thy wick

Very succulent and tempting are the ways of a woman
Tis a flame that never dies only flickers to burst into life again

Magical words

Many times in writing, I've thought of flames dancing. But until your "Dance of Flame" and your picture, I'd never thought of personifying flame with human qualities.

In the scheme of life, it's a little thing, I suppose, but I'll never see another candle flame flickering without thinking of you and your lovely poem.

I just love being an old dog learning a new trick. It's invigorating!

You take the flame to its natural and reserved place in this well-constructed poem. A woman's flame has been the catalyst for stupendous love and wars begun because it that very same flame. The flame -- the hot, searing flame of woman is what makes men lose all control and do the stupidest and most irrational things, all because of the hot and smoldering flame. Loved this metaphor poem.

Chrissie,
This is truly beautiful all by itself in fact one of your best, but after reading several times it inspired me to write a verse that I wanted to offer between your first and last, hope you don't mind.

hugs

yearning music never ending
to the warm memory of the flame
delicate as the hand of fate
once burned we never are the same
