Running on Empty

When the night melts away,
filling darkness within,
empty dreams and promises,
left offshore to begin,
this life of emptiness,
where the sun brings rain,
to wash away the pain,
it is morning light whispers,
that tell you to breathe,
to embrace this given day,
through blackest of clouds,
…..just breathe

SOMETIMES...TO BREATHE...IS ALL YOU CAN DO...AND...AT A GIVEN TIME LIKE THAT, IT'S PROBABLY ALL ONE SHOULD DO. JUST BREATHE...AND WAIT FOR THE MORNING SUN. EXQUISITE! A KEEPER. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

You have a mature, concise style and that's hard to do. This one like my life here in Florida, empty (and the J.B. title take reminds me of his old song)IF i ever get out of Florida, I know I'll succeed; but your poem leaves us with great spiritual advice for the present (wherever we are!) "to embrace this given day,
through blackest of clouds,
…..just breathe" Thanks...

That's what life is. . . .
One breath after another
Till there are no others.
I really like this. . . .
Reads real smooth.

Beautiful, Chrissie. This one brings hope and inspiration. It refreshed my mind, somehow lightened my heart and encouraged my tired spirit to go on and yes, breathe. Love you, girl!

Christine, you are running on full with this poem. You carry the concept of faith and intertwine it magnificently with the determination of a pragmatic warrior who will not be defeated by any adversity. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

Sometimes we run on empty and then in the middle of no where we find our second wind...or begin to breathe again. This is a work of art Chrissie with such depth of feelings and emotions it makes my heart ache.

having just come from Felix's new Breathless, I can see the beautifully twinning of inspiration here, Christine. They are wonderfully complementary poems and are, to me, like a call and response. Deep calling to deep in all ways. Just lovely. xx

"...morning light whispers that tell you to breathe..."
What a wonderful companion to the admonition, "Stop and smell the roses."

What I can share is that as our Calendar of Life grows shorter, we are more driven than ever to embrace each day.

Thank you for bringing us "Running on Empty," a thoughtful and provocative offering.
