Tomorrow

I will walk deep into the woods again.

For a week I will follow the beat

of your heart in me and the clear beat

of my heart with you.

I will not

be far from where you are and with you when

the lion in you roars or lies down,

weary from worldly wants and demands

to rest well, knowing,

Soon we will

meet strength to strength, eye to eye, hand in hand,

in an open field with nothing left

to conceal, basking in this one truth:

our love lives, is real.

But today,

you, my heart’s true home, must find love alone

to be certain of its clarion call.

In this difficult hour, remember

steady rise and fall—

Your first breath

of allowing what has waited so long

to move through you as rain or healing balm.

All week, I will focus on the breathing

and your freeing you

As you choose.

For you must choose as you see fit to choose.

I will choose to love you in the choosing,

in the receiving and the letting go,

in every daybreak.

As night falls,

I will fall to my knees to thank my God

for ev'ry remembrance of you. With joy,

I rise, knowing in spite of all that’s been,

fellowship remains.

Tomorrow

I will walk deep into the woods again.

For a week I will follow the beat

of your heart in me and the clear beat

of my heart with you.
