No, this little one isn't mine. But I did have three blankie-babies of my own!

Blankies
by CJ Heck

Blankies are made to sleep with.
Blankies are made to hug.
Blankies care when Mom or Dad can't be there
'cause blankies are made to give love.

I sure do miss mine when it's in the wash,
my blankie gets dirty ya’ see,
'cause everywhere I go, blankie goes, too,
with Mommy and Daddy and me.

These 'blankies' are the best gifts to give at baby showers, 'tho new moms don't know it at the time. Have never known a baby not to have their favorite blankie, no matter how worn!

CJ, you always write such memorable children's poems, that even we 'aunties' can relate to...love 'em!!!

First I have to say Yes, Rusty! I love my "throws," especially the electric one and especially the patchwork quilt one and especially the one with Psalm 23 written on it...see what I mean? I just love my blankies.
Great, sweet poem, C.J. I can see my dear little brother Patty with thumb in mouth and blankie in hand. Thanks for the memories.

CJ...it was such a sweet moment when my older son Matthew gave his blankie to his baby brother...and what i loved even more that each of them had a tendancy to go for the little satin miteres corners which they called the "best piece". The thing is still in shreds in the linen closet...I wonder who will lay claim when and if they ever get married and have kids?? I agree with Jerry, you do these so well. I may have to ask for lessons sometime!
Love and Hugsss,
Taylor

We called our tartan shawls. They were laid out on the grass for us to picnic upon, mother wrapped us in them when we were babies, women threw them over their heads to nip from one house to the next on a rainy day, we covered ourselves with them on the couch in cold nights and, all 22 feet of it was wrapped around the men as kilts in days of yore!

One word is all your poems need to press my nostalgia button, C.J.

CJ, your poetry always gives me flashbacks. It's good we have you here to refresh those somewhat faded memories. I've found that grownups have blankies too. When you get older they're called afgans. It's the price of growing up.
