The Playhouse

Mommy, come inside our little house.
Me and sissy worked all day.
We made a door and window,
come on in and you can play.

Me and sissy can scoot over
so you have a place to sit,
and thanks for bringing pans and spoons
so we can work on it.

Over here we made a kitchen,
over there, a living room.
We never have to clean it,
we don’t even need a broom.

We don’t have a bedroom,
so no beds we have to make.
Uh oh, sissy look outside!
Do you see those big snowflakes?

I guess that it will be okay,
our whole house is made of snow.
We scooped it from a snowdrift
and now our house will grow!

Oh CJ, this is priceless!! It brings back memories of youth, and parents who got down on hands and knees and crawled into their kids' snow playhouses. Do parents do that anymore?? I love it!

Peace. Joyce

Ah, the days of building igloos seem a nineteen eternity ago. I never see kids building them now. But through reading this delightful poem, I indulged a bit of childhood memory frolic.

Loved this write CJ, I love your imagination! You've transported me back to a time when winters were simple and fun, the time of childhood. We couldn't wait for snow to come, so we could build snowmen and build our own igloos. Up early, eat a big breakfast, drink hot chocolate, bundle up to where all you could see was each others eyes peeking through the scarves, and build away. We would stay out and play until mommy would finally have to make us come in and warm, and back out we would go again. Ah snow and a kid, nothing like it. No worries about driving on it, going to work, power outages, no...just fun in it! Ah, snow...we've not seen much of it this year...maybe two inches! It is supposed to snow tomorrow, I'll believe it when I see it...Again CJ, you've given a chance to relive a wonderful memory through your wonderful poetry. You're a gem my friend....
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling

Oh what memories you bring back CJ~ This is too wonderful! My brothers and sisters and I would all compete with each other, trying to make the best snow houses we could! After the plows finished our mile long drive, they would deposit the mounds of snow at the end. Our snowhouses, sometimes were 10 feet high! Quite dangerous, now that I think back!
Enjoyed the poem and the memories it sparks!
Love and Peace~

Another clever poem, CJ. Your imagination is limitless! Loved the picture, though I'm not sure about living in a house of snow! :)

God Bless

CJ...why it is that the children snow hoses don't seems to be cold?
It is because they warm it up with their smiles?
A very fine poem.
...and thaks.

Mastering rhyme, rhythm, meter and the wonderment of a child all in one poem is difficult. Time and time again you have shown your ability to manage all of them. Another step toward your Poet Laureateship.
