Another co-write between my friend, Rusty, and me. What a pleasure it is writing with him -- he's a true professional.

Tattle Telling
(by Rusty Daily/CJ Heck)

Little sister is a pain,
she makes me so darn mad!
She does this little sister stuff
that's always silly and bad.

Like at supper tonight,
she hated her meat
and after chewing it up,
she spit it at me.

When mom wasn't looking,
she flipped peas in the air.
They were all over the floor,
even some in my hair.

I yelled to my mom
and I yelled to my dad,
told them Sissy was naughty
and being real bad

but I’m the one sitting
all alone in a corner,
like that silly old guy,
little Jack Horner.

Mom put me here
in a stupid time out
'cause Sissy was crying
and starting to pout.

She said that I teased her,
then she started yelling,
and like dumb little girls,
she started tattle telling.

She told mom and dad
that I said she was fat,
that I called her a stinker,
and a spoiled little brat.

I showed them the stuff,
like the peas in my hair,
and the yucky chewed meat
that was still on my chair,

but I’m still in the corner
and I guess I should be,
'
cause I shouldn’t have said
all those things to Sissy.

I agreed I am older,
wiped the peas off my chin,
and told Sissy I’m sorry.
Geez, big brothers can't win ...

We have to keep Sissy,
she's their pride and joy,
but I wish they’d just bring me
a new baby … a boy.

CJ / Rusty,

I guess we can't blame the middle child syndrome on this one.(lol) Very entertaining and I love the rhyme and flow.

Yes! Beware the lil sister who also has her own camcorder. Mariah got her brother real good when I was gone to Ireland. It's a long story but this poem helped me recall this tale. Priceless memories even with lil sisters.
Love,
Susan

Ha, delightful starting handle for a cartwheel return in thought to the days when I used to take the rap for my younger brother's mischief. It got to the point where I was so fed up that when my parents (especially mother - he was a real mommy's boy) were not around, I used to not so subtley elbow or push him. That was over forty years ago; we are very close as brothers and laugh at those once upon a smack on the backside days - my backside of course.

A poetic duet that is neatly in tune with child psychology.

Regards
Dai

Welcome back CJ!!!!!! nearly started my own yelling.
Despite being a great-grandfather, never ceases to surprise me the wisdom that children have sometimes, if one really hear them.
I am delighted for the way you convey their words to us.

I have a lot of things for which I am thankful. One of the them is having a friend like CJ and writing children's poetry with her. She's one of the best children's poets, if not the best, I have read. IMHO Hope you enjoy reading this as much as we enjoyed writing it.
