(not to mention the numerous species that have been targeted by the Dept. of Interior such as the so called "excess" American Bison, the original American Wolf, - Wild horses, - bear, coyote and cougar are under the gun as well.
Now add in the corporate destruction of Big Oil and our own consumption and we may not need's Nature's hand to proclaim extinction complete. Do we really think "we" can stand untouched and aloof from the very effects we have put into motion?)

Our modern day ignorance and callousness seem to increase now, each and every day. And yet many still claim that we are the most intelligent beings on this planet. I now doubt that more and more each day.

Beautiful photo and creative write. A very sad issue, all life-forms are precious and should be protected to the fullest. Karma is always present---to those who do not respect our soul protectors on this earth.
Buffalos once roamed all over the plains, and are now pretty much restricted to Yellowstone and other sanctuaries. It is a sad reality, but a real one, nevertheless, that it is just not possible to allow them to roam as they once did--we're a fenced-in/highway society now. And these sanctuaries are simply not large enough to contain them all and the other species they house and protect.
We have a sad problem here in Idaho as well-- the wolves re-introduced here were not the native ones to Idaho. Standing on all fours, they come up to my chest. You see their prints in the river bottoms-- 6 ft strides. These are Alaskan grey wolves, and they are reeking havoc among the tamed herds and flocks of mountain ranchers who've been here for over a century. I think the problem was that in the first place, reintroduction was not researched as it should have been. And I-- who have always loved the wolf-- even concur with the plan of reducing their numbers here, or relocating them to Alaska, and more wild places.
Elk herds are now being raised inside fences, as are the buffalo... they have made a mighty come back. And should something devistating happen to open up the gates of freedom, then I say, let them roam! But I'd rather that something didn't happen. Life is precious, you know. --Charlie
